§ 6.05.180(B) fine schedule for § 6.05.040(A)(2): '$40.00 for the first violation; $150.00 for the second violation within any 12-month period; and $500.00 each for three or more violations within any 12-month period.' Evansville has no stand-alone pick-up section; dog waste falls under its animal nuisance rules. The schedule was most recently amended by Ord. G-2026-5 (passed 3-16-26).

The carry rule

No bag-carry requirement, and no explicit pick-up duty. The animal nuisance definition in § 6.05.020 covers an animal that 'damages, soils, defiles, or defecates on any public right-of-way' or that 'trespasses on, soils, defiles, defecates on or damages private or public property, including, but not limited to, the leaving of waste material.'

Service animals

The animal nuisance provisions contain no service-dog exemption. Service animals are exempt only from the license fee and from certain public-gathering restrictions.
